Manarola and the Azaleas.

In June, on one of my hikes in Manarola, I found myself in this beautiful memorial, built into the side of the cliff, a few steps below the cemetery. The framing of the brick window and the azaleas practically made me jump up and down with glee, so I set up my tripod and camera and started to shoot. There were 3 or 4 of these brick-edged windows looking out over the sea and the village. In the one next to where I set up, another traveller was curled up, reading a book. She talked to me while I was shooting since she had just been wishing she had a camera too. Thinking back, I can't imagine why I didn't shoot some images of her too, beautifully framed in the window…
